Health Insurance in Agriculture Survey

Welcome to the HIREDnAg Survey!

Some farmers and ranchers say that health insurance influences their family and their business decisions.

We want to know what you have to say.

We are asking for a few moments of your valuable time to complete a survey about your experiences with health insurance and how it relates to your family’s health and the health of your farm business.

We will use what you and others say to better understand how health insurance influences household and farm enterprise decision-making. We will also use your thoughts to identify policies and programs that can help farm and ranch families like you succeed and grow your enterprise.

The benefits to you are:

1) Sharing your opinion regarding issues of national importance-- supporting and growing farms and ranches

2) Informing national agricultural and rural health programs and policy.

The survey is confidential. The only risk associated with your participation would be a breach of confidentiality. However, we have taken precautions against that. Your personal information will not be disclosed. All data from the survey will be stored with a coded number and not be associated with your name, address, email, or other personal information. We will only report results using summary statistics; your identity will never be used. If you refuse to participate, there will be no penalty to you. Your participation is voluntary and you may refuse to proceed at any time. This research has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at the University of Vermont.

If you have any questions, concerns, complaints, or if you have been harmed as a result of study participation, feel free to contact the project directors Dr. Shoshanah Inwood (802-656-0257 or and Dr. Alana Knudson (301-634-9326 or For more information see
