We are conducting a survey of current and aspiring shiitake mushroom growers in the northeast.  We are investigating different marketing options -- specifically whether a mushroom network / marketing association would benefit local growers.  Please feel free to include any additional comments relevant to improving the program.

Your response and time is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

MORE INFORMATION...

What Network / Marketing Association?
A network or marketing association is made up of collection of regional small scale cultivators and enthusiasts united voluntarily to meet their common economic and social needs through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise.

How would a Network / Marketing Association help support Shiitake Mushroom sales?
A mushroom network would be dedicated to the promotion of sustainable mushroom production and sales throughout the region. It would seek to educate the public about the benefits of log-grown shiitake mushrooms, provide support to growers, arrange mushroom sales to regional wholesale buyers, and organize innovative research into mushroom production techniques.

Who is conducting the survey?
This survey was created through a cooperative effort between Cornell University, the University of Vermont, Chatham University and the Cooperative Development Institute.

What will the information be used for?
We are applying for additional funds through a Northeast Sustainable Agriculture, Research and Education grant. The results of this survey will shape the proposal and help us to better design a program which meets your needs.
