You must be 18 years or older, currently in a romantic relationship, and live in the United States of America to participate. This study is being conducted by the University of Vermont Psychology Department.
Why is This Research Study Being Conducted? This study is being conducted to examine how your personality and interpersonal experiences can influence your romantic relationship.
How Many People Will Take Part In The Study? Approximately 600 participants will be recruited to participate in this study.
What Is Involved In The Study? You will be asked to answer a series of questions about yourself, your interpersonal and life experiences, and your romantic relationship. You will be asked questions about your gender, race, sexual orientation, and other personal information. All of the questions are opinion questions and there are no right or wrong answers. The survey should take approximately 4 minutes to complete.
What Are The Risks and Discomforts Of The Study? There are very few risks associated with this study. It is your choice to participate in this research and the study is completely voluntary. A potential risk of participation is that you may have thoughts or feelings that make you uncomfortable while answering the questions. If you do become distressed at any time during the survey, you are free to discontinue your participation by exiting the survey or closing your web browser. What Are The Benefits of Participating In The Study? There may be no benefits to participating in this study.
What Other Options Are There? The other option that you have is not completing the questionnaire. If you do not want to participate you may indicate so at the bottom of the page and close your web browser.
Are There Any Costs? There are no costs associated with participating in this study other than your time (approximately 4 minutes).
What Is the Compensation? You will be paid $.30 upon completion of this survey via Amazon’s Mechanical Turk marketplace.
Can You Withdraw From This Study? You may withdraw from this study at anytime by closing your browser or clicking on the “Clear data and exit survey” link at the bottom of the page.
What About Confidentiality? In order to receive payment for this study, you will be given a unique code to enter into Amazon’s Mechanical Turk. This code will not be associated with your responses and this study does not ask for personally identifying information. Upon request, representatives of the Institutional Review Board will be granted direct access to your original research records for verification of procedures and/or data. The results of this study may be published and information may be exchanged between investigators, but your anonymity will be maintained.
